Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Acquiring funding to sustain the incubator program as it continues to mature, and overseeing the financial management of the facility.

·         Expanding the occupancy and the service activities of the incubator.

·         Directing and managing all incubator operations, including supervising incubator staff and student interns, and directing the efforts of a network of consultants and volunteers.

·         Working closely with the Director of the international Center for Water Resource Management to mitigate any potential conflicts between academic and incubator use of the space in McLin Hall.

·         Working with appropriate CSU faculty to ensure that the original vision of incubator contributions to the academic mission of the university is realized.

·         Representing the incubator to external groups.

·         Setting policy (with Board concurrence).

·         Accomplishing short- and long-term objectives in accordance with the business plan.

·         Developing and refining client recruitment and screening processes.

·         Implementing incubator procedures, including establishing, evaluating and regulating all tenant policies and lease agreements.

·         Providing business counseling to tenants and potential tenants of the incubator including assisting in the development of business strategies, needs assessments, exit strategies and securing resources for graduating tenants.

·         Perform other administrative/management functions including: interfacing with other Battelle, U.S. EPA and CSU staff; contributing to the development of detailed plans for task activities; and monitoring; and controlling time-based performance and budget.

 

 

 QUALIFYING FACTORS,  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

·         Demonstrated leadership and networking skills;

·         Knowledge of business planning, financial and property management, and marketing.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

·         Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, financial management, law, engineering or sciences, or corresponding experience in one or more of these areas. A graduate degree is preferable.

·         Experience:

Experience in business development and/or technology development involving start-up business or incubator management is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership and networking skills, as well as having knowledge of business planning, financial and property management, and marketing.
