Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach Creative Writing, prose (fiction and creative nonfiction), as well as Composition.
Maintain office hours and provide advisement and mentorship for students.
Assist in curriculum development and review.
Participate in college and professional development activities.
Conduct and publish research.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFYING FACTORS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Specialization in Creative Writing, multiple genres strongly desired.
Experience in teaching Creative Writing as well as all levels of First-Year Composition.
Experience in teaching developmental composition a plus.
Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and
improvement.
Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural, ethnic and academic
backgrounds.
Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising.
Understanding of and commitment to the role of a comprehensive college in a multi-
cultural setting.
Involvement with recognized professional associations or organizations.
Some familiarity or experience with, or willingness to use, innovative pedagogies such as
service learning.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Ph.D. preferred
Master's required
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of teaching experience.
Significant record of publication to include relevant
literary and professional journals, etc.
