Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Develop, coordinate, and maintain study abroad opportunities for Central State University students.

·        Work with faculty, department chars and deans to develop and/or modify curricula in support of international studies.

·        Provide orientation, counseling and academic advising programs to support international students in adapting to the academic, cultural and financial circumstances of their lives while enrolled at Central State University.

·        Provide advice, workshops and training for campus organizations and departments that impact the lives of foreign students at Central State University.

·        Work with the Office of Admissions to establish and maintain a consistent University presence in targeted recruitment areas abroad.

·        Implement a system for evaluation of foreign transfer credit evaluation.

·        Coordinate university implementation of procedures and services to comply with legislative and regulatory mandates governing non-immigrant students and exchange visitors.

·        Develop, maintain and periodically updated separate advising manuals for international students and for study abroad students.

·        Research and implement best practices in international studies consistent with the CSU mission and Strategic Academic and Enrollment Management (SAEM) Plan.

·        Represent the University in state and national organizations and relationships that promote study abroad, student exchange, and international studies opportunities.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        Ph.D. with at least three years of relevant experience.

·        Ability to work with diverse campus and off-campus constituencies, both in the U.S. and abroad.

·        Superior organizational skills.

·        Strong written, verbal and computer skills.

·        Knowledge of or ability to master the SCT Banner Information System.

·        Understanding of and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences.

·        U.S. citizenship or status as lawful permanent U.S. resident.

·         

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        Experience teaching ESL, linguistics, a foreign language, or other related subject.

·        Fluency in at least one foreign language.

·        Some overseas living experience
