Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lecture and laboratory teaching duties will include courses in zoology, biostatistics, bioinformatics and molecular-based core courses.
• The candidate will be expected to teach courses in the freshman and non-major biology sequences.
• He or she will be expected to carry out sustained scholarly research involving undergraduates, preferably in an interdisciplinary environment with other faculty with backgrounds in animal physiology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, plant physiology and/or water resources management
• He or she will assume the full range or faculty duties, including research training of students, academic advising, and service on committees.
• He or she will assume other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and competency in current approaches in zoology. bioinformatics and molecular biology.
• Dedication to pursuing excellence in curriculum delivery, development and improvement
• Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds Experience with courses in biotechnology or forensics a plus.
• Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising
• Involvement with recognized professional associations or organizations
• Ability to write grants and secure extramural funding in support of his or her research
Minimum Requirements:
• Doctorate in Biology or related field with expertise in zoology
• The capacity to develop a research program that involves undergraduates in research and is competitive for extramural funding
• A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the college level
