Business Administration
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration includes concentrations in Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Hospitality Management, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. Our programs complement high-quality instruction with rich experiential learning opportunities that include internships with industry partners, support for student clubs and competitions (e.g., Enactus), a vibrant College leadership seminar series, etc. For example, the Summer Banking Institute (SBI) program provides students access to internships with an extensive network of banks in Ohio and beyond.
Central State University’s College of Business received 10-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
All undergraduate programs are accredited by the (ACBSP). Central State is one of only 10 HBCUs that hold this specialized accreditation. The College was named Best Business Program by HBCU Digest in 2018. The College is also a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AABSB).

The Business Administration program is designed to help students develop a solid foundation in business. It also enhances the student's sense of self-discipline and dedication to purpose and provides the confidence needed for success in the world of commerce.

The Agribusiness concentration focuses on the business and economics of production, operations, management, marketing, and finance in organizations engaged in agriculture. The field of agribusiness also encompasses the production and sales of equipment, farm-related commodities, trading, and manufacturing. The concentration also focuses on managerial functions performed by individuals in agriculture and related fields.

The Entrepreneurship concentration covers various aspects of financing and managing an entrepreneurial venture. Major topics include attracting seed and growth capital from sources such as venture capital, investment banking, government, and commercial banks. Among the issues discussed are valuing a company and going public.
Students learn to identify and take advantage of marketing opportunities and formulate skills in creative and critical thinking, written and oral communication, and ethical reasoning.

Hospitality Management (HMP) significantly impacts many business areas, and students concentrating on Hospitality Management are in a prime position to enter into careers leading to unlimited opportunities worldwide. This option provides students the opportunity to master the skills and discipline to be successful in one of the fastest-growing fields in the world. The curriculum offers a solid foundation to move into restaurants, lodging facilities, airlines, travel agencies, rental car companies, and casinos. A Hospitality Management graduate has the opportunity to become a manager, an educator, or an entrepreneur.

The International Business concentration focuses on conducting business in international environments. The program prepares and equips Central State graduates to enter a wide variety of business sectors from large conglomerates to small businesses and entrepreneurship-developing niche areas. The close association with other Business Administration courses of study ensures a working knowledge of business functions.
Many companies doing business globally today believe it is important to send employees on assignment to other countries. The degree option in International Business prepares students for a career that could provide opportunities for travel to and work in cities like Paris, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Cairo.

The Marketing concentration is based on the premise that meeting the needs of the market is the basis of business success. Marketing connects businesses to their customers through the 4Ps — product, price, promotion, and place. Successful businesses have solid marketing plans and marketing analysis, and research are incorporated into the curriculum. Students are also involved in the Marketing Club and have access to internship possibilities at various businesses and industries.
