Detroit native Mariah Simmons, a rising junior studying Pre-Law at Central State University who plans to specialize in agricultural law, recently sat down with reporter Melissa Weber of Farm and Dairy to discuss the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in ag. The conversations took place during the Central State University 1890 Land-Grant 10th Anniversary Celebration and Open House on April 26.
The University is taking bold steps to inspire the next generation of agricultural researchers and professionals.
“Kids of color from the north don’t know about gardening,” Simmons told Farm and Dairy. “I want to learn more and help educate others.”
