Central State University, Wilberforce among most charming college towns in Ohio

Central State University in Wilberforce and the surrounding communities are among the most charming college towns in Ohio, according to an article by ohio.org.

The list aims to inspire travelers to visit Ohio's many vibrant cities and charming towns. 

According to World Population Review, Wilberforce in Greene County had a population of 2,386 in 2023. Ohio.org names the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center as a must-see in the town, while must-dos include stops in nearby Yellow Springs and John Bryan State Park in Clifton. 

Central State is the U.S.'s oldest private Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The University began using the name Central State College in 1951 and, in 1965, achieved University status, according to "The First One Hundred Years, 1887-1987" by Lathardus Goggins.
