Welcome
The International Languages and Cultures (ILC) program offers minors in Spanish, French, and International Languages and Cultures. It also offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili to support the University’s general education program.
The ILC program provides students the opportunity to broaden their experiences through the study of international languages and cultures. It offers professional training to students majoring in areas that use international language skills, beginning and intermediate courses in several languages, and a variety of upper-level culture, cinema, and literature courses. Students expecting to use an international language in their careers are strongly urged to participate in a study-abroad program to develop their linguistic and culture skills and knowledge.

About
The vision of Central State University is to produce graduates who contribute their unique talents to a global society. International Cultures and Literatures is a vibrant unit that prepares students for the realities of a globalized world. We challenge learners in a supportive environment where they can develop their linguistic skills and intercultural competence.
Our courses investigate the cultural, literary, and critical aspects of societies that use our languages. This means that learners develop a base of knowledge not only in language but, just as importantly, a repertoire of skills and attitudes vital for understanding and navigating the highly globalized world of the 21st century.
Developing learners’ 21st-century skills
Central State University prepares Marauders for the following:

A university education must impart skills with application in the 21st century (ACTFL, 2020).
