Working in broadcast news
Want to learn more about what it is like working in the broadcast news industry? Do you have dreams and goals of becoming a big part of this fast-paced and deadline-driven profession in front or behind the camera? Look no further! Marauder Land Media Group is the student group for you!
This new group is for Central State University Journalism and Digital Media students, and those studying for other majors, to gain exposure in the field of broadcast journalism early. By participating, students will gain the skills they need to apply for fulfilling careers upon graduation. Faculty and staff from the Department of Communications, Composition, and Languages and other colleges are also encouraged to join MMG.
What Marauder Land Media Group offers you
- Students will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the new equipment at the Mass Communication Center's TV studio and determine which position in broadcast news better suits them. These positions include anchors, reporters, photographers, video editors, producers, executive producers, news directors, master control, weather meteorologists, sports anchors and reporters, camera operators, and production assistants.
- Meet real-life journalists from local TV stations and make connections with them and others. These journalists will also see our work up close and personally and talk to students about their experiences working in this industry. Additionally, they will answer questions and advise on preparing for a career in their field.
- Become a part of the student-run newscast, where you will report the news about what's happening on and around campus, our community, and the nation.
- Shoot, write, edit, and produce your own stories and shows.
- Most importantly, learn about internship and career opportunities throughout the academic year.
