Celebrate International Education Week at Central State University

Central State University’s Center for International Education invites the campus community to celebrate International Education Week from Nov. 19-21. This annual event showcases a series of enriching activities designed to promote global awareness, cultural understanding, and the value of diverse perspectives. Here’s what you can look forward to! 

Nov. 19 — Cultural Competency Seminar 

Kick off the week by expanding your understanding of cultural interactions at the Cultural Competency Seminar. Taking place from 2-3 p.m. in Room 112 of the Charles H. Wesley Arts & Science Building (Wesley Hall), this seminar will offer insights into developing practical skills for engaging with people from various cultural backgrounds. It’s a must-attend for those interested in deepening their knowledge of diversity and global communication. 

Nov. 20 — A Day of Global Exploration 

Silent Film Screening — “The Fall of the House of Usher” (France, 1928) 

Start your day with a unique cinematic experience! Join us from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in Room 210 of the University Student Center for a screening of the classic French silent film, “The Fall of the House of Usher”. This haunting masterpiece will transport you to a different era and culture, giving you a chance to celebrate the global history of storytelling. 

Study Abroad Fair 

If you’re dreaming of studying abroad, the Study Abroad Fair is for you! Head to the University Student Center Lobby between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to meet representatives from top study abroad providers who will present a variety of international programs. This is your opportunity to learn about the options, ask questions, and plan your next academic adventure. 

Kenyan Cultural Showcase with Fulbright Scholar Eunice Kang’ethe 

Immerse yourself in the vibrant traditions of Kenya with Fulbright Scholar Eunice Kang’ethe, who will share insights into her country’s heritage. Join her from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Room 214 of Wesley Hall. Discover the depth of Kenyan culture and explore the significance of its customs, art, and music. 

Nov. 21 — Taste of the World, International Student Bazaar, and FBI Linguists Program session

End International Education Week on a delicious note with the Taste of the World and the International Student Bazaar, happening at the University Student Center. This free event features an array of foods and presentations by international students, faculty, and staff eager to share their native cultures with the campus community. Enjoy a feast of global flavors, connect with students from around the world, and even bring your own favorite dish to share!  

Plus, learn about career opportunities in the FBI Linguists Program, which will be introduced during the event.
