Central State University welcomes Dr. Alvin E. Level as the new assistant professor and director of bands
Central State University is proud to announce the selection of Dr. Alvin E. Level as the new director of bands and assistant professor. With a distinguished career in music education and band leadership, Level brings a wealth of experience and a vibrant vision to the Invincible Marching Marauders and the University's music program.
A proud alumnus of Central State University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Level, ’94, furthered his education with a master’s degree in Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University and an EdD in Adult/Higher Education from Morehead State University. His professional journey includes significant roles in public schools and higher education, where he has developed award-winning music programs and served on numerous committees and search panels.
Level joins us from Kentucky State University, where he served as the director of bands and professor of Music since 2015. During his tenure, he was responsible for all aspects of the marching, symphonic, and pep bands, and achieved numerous accolades, including the Director of the Year Runner-Up Award in 2022. Level's bands have performed at prestigious events such as the HBCU National Homecoming Battle of the Bands and various national festivals.
“There is no place like home,” Level said on his return to his alma mater.
As we welcome Level back to Central State, we are excited about the continued excellence and innovation he will bring to our band program.
