HBCUs celebrate homecoming season
As the week unfolds, the alumni of Central State University are making their way back to their beloved campus for a Homecoming Like No Other. The excitement and energy of the returning alumni is palpable as they come to Wilberforce, Ohio, eager to reconnect with their alma mater and meet the current Marauders. This is when memories are shared, stories are told, and bonds are strengthened between past and present members of the Central State University community.
Homecoming is a special time for Central State, where we come together to remember, celebrate accomplishments, and promote unity. This season, we are experiencing a significant leadership transition, and it's a time for inspiring transformations and bold changes. To refocus on the Institution's strategic priorities, we are issuing a challenge to prioritize Student Access and Success. These priorities are something the entire campus community can support, as we all understand the transformative power of a Central State University education.
The culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is rich in tradition and community. One of the most significant events on the HBCU calendar is homecoming celebrations. During homecoming, alumni, current students, and faculty come together to celebrate their institution's legacy, achievements, and culture. The festivities often include gatherings on the yard, where people can socialize, enjoy music and food, and take part in various activities. Additionally, football games, parades, and other events bring the community together. Homecoming is not just a celebration of the past but also an opportunity to network and create lasting connections with fellow alumni and students.
