Central State University's Dayton location is gearing up to empower local residents this summer with an array of courses designed to enhance professional skills and support small business growth. Highlighted by Spectrum News, these offerings cater to diverse interests ranging from financial analysis for entrepreneurs to technical skills like welding and app development. With a commitment to fostering success among Black-owned businesses — a crucial initiative given national statistics — the University aims to equip participants with practical knowledge to excel in their careers.

According to the Pew Research Center, only 3% of U.S businesses are Black-owned. The majority of Black workers in the U.S say being African American makes it harder to succeed in their workplaces. This stark reality underscores the urgent need for initiatives that support and empower Black entrepreneurs and professionals.

The programs reflect Central State's dedication to community development and underscores its role as Ohio's only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and 1890 Land-Grant Institution.
