News in brief
NyAshia Williams Matthews, a rising junior in the Honors College and women's track team member, and Alain Tamo-Noche, a member of the Central State men's volleyball team, have spent the summer in Cape Town, South Africa, interning with Student-Athletes Abroad (SAA), the Honors College has announced.
Matthews is working with a nonprofit organization, Project Playground (PPG), in an underserved community where poverty is prevalent. PPG provides sports programs and educational opportunities for children who come from troubled homes and need safe spaces. She is working to secure funding for the continual progression of the program to help ensure the children of Cape Town achieve future success.
