How To Become A Peer Tutor

To be eligible for a tutoring position, a student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Additionally, the student must have earned a letter grade of A or B in the course they wish to tutor and have completed at least one full academic year at the institution. Undecided majors are not eligible for this position. Faculty recommendations, which must be typed on official university letterhead, should be submitted directly to the coordinator at least two months before the next semester to ensure inclusion in the budget. Students must apply through Handshake and meet all prescreening requirements to be considered for an interview. Selection is contingent upon successfully passing the interview and screening process. Furthermore, students must be available to attend in-person training sessions once a week for six weeks to become certified tutors. Failure to complete this training will result in ineligibility to tutor until the course is successfully passed.
Peer Tutor Report & Complaint Form
At the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services, we are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed academically. Our tutoring services are designed to provide personalized assistance across a wide range of subjects, helping students build confidence and improve their academic performance. We strive to maintain high standards of quality in our tutoring services, ensuring that each session is productive and beneficial.
We understand that, at times, students may have concerns or experiences that need to be addressed. To this end, we have created the Peer Tutor Report & Complaint Form, which allows students to provide feedback about their tutoring sessions. This form is an essential tool for both reporting positive experiences and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise. Whether it’s a suggestion for improvement or a complaint about the quality of the session, every submission is valued and reviewed.
To maintain fairness and impartiality, all complaints submitted through this form will be thoroughly investigated by an Independent Review Board (IRB) composed of stakeholders from across the university campus. This team ensures that each complaint is handled with the utmost attention to detail and fairness, guaranteeing that no bias influences the outcome. Our goal is to continuously improve the tutoring experience for all students, and your feedback is a critical part of that process.
