PROJECT TITLE: Expand markets for climate-smart beef, fruit, vegetable, and other specialty crops in Ohio and Michigan and support farmers and ranchers with implementation and monitoring of climate-smart practices. 

AWARD NUMBER: NR243A750004G003

Purpose: The purpose of this agreement between CSU and USDA/NRCS is to build markets for climate-smart commodities and invest in America’s climate-smart producers to strengthen U.S. rural and agricultural communities.

Objectives:

  1. Support the production and marketing of climate-smart commodities by providing voluntary incentives to producers and landowners, including early adopters.
  2. Implement climate-smart agricultural production practices, activities, and systems on working lands.
  3. Measure/ quantify, monitor, and verify the carbon and greenhouse (GHG) benefits associated with those practices.
  4. Develop markets and promote the resulting climate-smart commodities.
