Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Psychology courses are available for both majors and non-majors. Extensive use of speakers and extracurricular activities allows students to explore a wide range of views of issues related to the field.

The faculty possesses diverse professional expertise in psychology, is involved in research, and pursues working relationships with other professional institutions. Students also have the opportunity for experiential learning through field experience and research projects. In collaboration with University Career Services, the department offers field placement opportunities for practical experience in various agencies and organizations. Research opportunities are available through independent study with faculty or research projects on the student’s topic of choice.

    • Successfully complete PSY 1100 Freshman Seminar in Psychology and PSY 1200 Introduction to Psychology
    • Attend events sponsored by the Psychology program and CHASE
    • Meet with the Psychology Program Faculty
    • Join a Student Organization or Student Club
    • Explore different Minors related to the field
    • Attend the Career Expo to familiarize yourself with possible career and internship options
    • Attend events sponsored by the Psychology program and CHASE
    • Attend the Career Expo to familiarize yourself with possible career and internship options
    • Meet with your academic advisor in the First and Second-Year Success Center to track your degree progress
    • Declare a Minor such as Forensic Studies, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or Sociology
    • Meet with the Psychology Program Faculty
    • Begin exploring graduate programs
    • Attend events sponsored by the Psychology program and CHASE
    • Continuing researching potential graduate programs
    • Take the GRE or LSAT
    • Research workforce opportunities; visit Career Services to locate and apply for internships (Not Required)
    • Meet with your Academic Advisor from the Psychology Program
    • Attend the Career Expo
    • Attend events sponsored by the Psychology program and CHASE
    • Meet with your Academic Advisor from the Psychology Program to prepare for graduation
    • Complete graduation requirements
    • Retake the GRE, if necessary
    • Apply to graduate school
    • Meet with Career Services
    • Apply for jobs in the workforce
    • Degree Awarded
    • Completion of all requirements for next steps (graduate school or workforce)
    • Visit CSU during homecoming and mentor undergraduate psychology students.
