Traditional
Anne O'Hare Williamson Hall and Jane Hunter Hall
Ideal for those who enjoy the classic dormitory setting, traditional rooms provide a communal living experience with shared spaces. Here’s what you can expect.

Where will you call home?

Trained as a nurse and lawyer, Jane Hunter, a member of the Central State University Board of Trustees from 1948-61, founded the Phillis Wheatley Association in Cleveland, Ohio. Hunter was a friend of Hallie Q. Brown through her involvement with the National Association of Colored Women (NACW). Hunter served as the NACW’s vice president and executive committee member during the 1920s and 1930s. This residence hall currently serves first-year male students in a traditional layout with a community based model.

Williamson Hall is named in honor of Anne O'Hare Williamson, a member of the University community from 1915-62. Williamson served as an instructor and professor of Elementary Education and as principal of Lucinda Cook Laboratory Demonstration School. She was also founder and the first editor of the Journal of Human Relations, published by Central State University from 1952-73. This residence hall currently serves first-year female students in a traditional layout with a community-based model.

Green Hall is named for Sunie S. Green, a 1908 graduate of the Combined Normal and Industrial Department, the predecessor of Central State, and director of women’s housing from 1941 until her retirement in the late 1960s. This co-ed residence hall currently serves upperclassmen students.

One of three residence halls located in the Wesley Village Honors community behind the historical Carnegie Library, Fox Hall is named after 1st Lt. John R. Fox, who was a member of the 366th Infantry Regiment when he sacrificed his life to defeat an enemy attack and save the lives of others. Fox was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Wilberforce University, participating in ROTC and graduating with a commission as a second lieutenant in 1940. This co-ed residence hall currently serves upperclassmen students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and/or who in the Honors Program.

Johns Hall is one of three residence halls located in the Wesley Village Honors Community located behind the historic Carnegie Library. In 1946, Johns returned to the U.S. and re-enrolled at Wilberforce College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1947 and went on to attend Columbia University in New York City, where he graduated with a Master of Arts in 1949. Upon graduation, Johns became the bursar at Central State University. Over the next few years, he was appointed to the positions of assistant professor of Business Administration, director of Business and Economics, dean of the College of Business, and comptroller. In 1958, he was appointed business manager and, in 1960, vice president of Fiscal Affairs. This co-ed residence hall currently serves first-year students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and/or who in the Honors Program.

One of three residence halls located in the Wesley Village Honors Community located right of the historic Carnegie Library, Wesley Village Apartments was built in 2022. This co-ed residence hall currently serves presidential scholars, trustee scholars, and upperclassmen with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The University's first owned and operated apartment-style residence hall with an academic and wellness component, Marauder Pride Community Apartments (Residential/Academic/Wellness Complex) was built in 2019. This co-ed residence hall currently serves upperclassmen with 60 or more credits.
