The SROTC Battalion cadets from Central State University congregated around the burial site of Lt. John Hanks Alexander, the inaugural professor of Military Science for the SROTC Battalion.

Alexander holds the distinction of being the second African American to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

His life ended in 1894 during his tenure as the professor of Military Science at Central State.

The cadets have assembled to tidy up the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio.
