Central State ROTC wins 3rd place in Brigade Bold Warrior Ranger Challenge
Central State University's Battalion Ranger Challenge Team won third place out of 38 teams in the Brigade Bold Warrior Range Challenge Competition, displaying the resilient spirit of the University.
The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) competition takes place annually in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Teams from the Midwest, including universities and colleges, compete against one another in various physically demanding activities, such as obstacle courses, relay races, and team-building exercises.
These teams undergo rigorous training starting early in the semester, with daily practices throughout the week, to prepare for this intense competition. The U.S. Army ROTC ensures that the participants are well-equipped and trained to handle the challenges presented.
According to the U.S. Army, the West Point Sandhurst Military Skills Competition is an annual event that tests the physical and mental abilities of military cadets. The competition is organized by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and is considered one of the most challenging military competitions in the world.
Each year, the top two teams from each Army ROTC Brigade are selected to represent the U.S. Army Cadet Command at the competition. These teams undergo rigorous training and preparation to ensure they have the required skills and knowledge to compete at the highest level.
The competition includes a variety of events that test a wide range of military skills, including marksmanship, tactics, land navigation, and physical fitness. The teams are judged on their performance in each event, and the team with the highest overall score is declared the winner.
Following the Bold Warrior Competition, the Marauder Battalion executed a field training exercise on both Central State's campus and at the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument. Notably, the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center have taken great care to preserve Brigadier General (BG) Charles Young's house. On March 25, 2013, President Obama signed a proclamation to establish the national monument as the nation's 401st NPS site, which can be found at 1120 U.S. Route 42 E.
