CSU 1890 Land-Grant hosts open house, Urban Farmer Youth Symposium, and student research showcase

Central State University invites the community to celebrate innovation in agriculture, research and education while marking the 135th anniversary of the 1890 Morrill Act.
The public is invited to join Central State University 1890 Land-Grant Programs for a two-day event: the 2025 Land-Grant Open House and Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activities Day on April 25, and the Urban Farmer Youth Symposium and 4-H Youth Day on April 26.
Attendees will explore groundbreaking research and hands-on demonstrations at Central State University’s campus, 1400 Brush Row Road, Wilberforce. They will have the opportunity to engage with faculty, students and community partners as the university celebrates achievements and innovations in land-grant programs.
The April 25 event will feature undergraduate students who have been involved with research in agriculture, nutrition and health and natural resources. A highlight of the event will be student poster and oral presentations. Research faculty will showcase their research and discoveries. Participants are also invited to learn about extension activities and experience robotics demonstrations, nutrition workshops and more. While at the event, participants can also attend a tree-planting ceremony to recognize Arbor Day.
The April 26 event will focus on the Urban Farmer Youth Initiative, which promotes students learning entrepreneurship with agricultural farms in urban areas. The youth who have been involved in the program will be demonstrating their skills and knowledge. A highlight will be a farmers’ market featuring products grown and created by the youth.
The university will celebrate its enduring commitment to empowering communities through agricultural and educational excellence. Registration for the free luncheon is required by April 14.
