Enter your artwork in the 2024 Student Art Show

Entries will be accepted beginning Feb. 6 for the 2024 Student Art Show in the Charles White Gallery at Central State University.

An artist talk will be offered by juror Taliaferro Sebastian, '10, from 1-2 p.m. Feb. 13 in Room 211 of Robeson. The opening reception will take place from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 14. Both events will take place in Room 211 of Paul Robeson Cultural and Performing Arts Center.

Entries will be accepted from Feb. 6-8. Students may bring their artwork to Charles White Gallery or turn it into their professor. Coordination with one of the faculty members from the Department of Fine Arts is essential to success. 

Important dates

Feb. 12: Faculty will select and hang the show by Feb. 12, and a list of accepted work will be posted outside the gallery door. 

Feb. 13: Artist talk, 1-2 p.m.; juror will make his selection of works to be awarded for the 2024 Student Art Show. 

Feb. 14: Awards will be announced and a reception will take place from 1-4 p.m.

Feb. 14-March 8: The art show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

March 18 and 22: Artwork pickup. All works displayed in the 2024 Student Art Show must be picked up between the hours of 12 and 5 p.m. Artwork not picked up at this time becomes the property of the CSU Arts program.

Entry rules and requirements

  • Each student may submit up to three pieces to be considered for display.
  • Exterior measurements of single, two-dimensional entries must not exceed 60 inches in overall circumference.
  • Works intended for wall display must be framed, uniframed and wired for hanging. Exceptions will be made for work that is not framed as part of its design. These pieces must be submitted with display hardware along with detailed instructions for the method of its hanging. Total weight of no more than 15 lbs.
  • Matted unframed work will not be accepted.
  • Sculptures and other three-dimensional works must be free-standing and stable.
  • Large three-dimensional works may not exceed 60 inches in height and must weigh less than 50 lbs.
  • Works may not be hung from the ceiling.
  • Art outside of the above listed parameters must be approved by art faculty.

Eligibility

  • All students currently enrolled in the 2024 spring semester are eligible to submit artwork for the show. It is open to the entire student body, not just Art majors. 
  • All submitted works must be been completed within the past three years. 
  • Artwork does not need to have been created as part of a class assignment. 
  • Works that have been previously displayed as part of the annual CSU Student Art Show are ineligible for submission.
  • Works must be original. Mass produced or photocopies of originals are ineligible, with the exception of works in which copied or appropriated images are central to its design.

Awards
