Gov. DeWine appoints four new members to Central State University Board of Trustees

Central State University is thrilled to welcome four newly appointed members to its Board of Trustees following Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s recent announcements. The appointments, effective Aug. 2, bring a rich diversity of experience and leadership to the University, with two new full-term trustees and two student members who will serve as the voices of the student body, ensuring their representation in the decision-making process.  

Trustee James Lloyd Ervin Jr.   

Term: Aug. 2, 2024-June 30, 2033

James Lloyd Ervin Jr., of Dublin, joins the Central State University Board of Trustees with extensive expertise in corporate compliance and ethics. Serving as vice president and North American regional chief compliance officer for Toyota Industries North America Inc. (TINA), Ervin leads efforts to uphold the company’s strong ethical standards and competitive edge.  

A seasoned leader, Ervin has held numerous civic and charitable positions, including chair of the Board of Commissioners for the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and past chair of the Catholic Foundation of Columbus. He brings a deep commitment to servant leadership, guided by his values of faith, family, and work ethic.  

Born in Los Angeles, Ervin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. His legal career began in 1996, and he continues to be an active leader in his community and professional organizations.  

Trustee Shon P. Anderson   

Term: Aug. 2, 2024-June 30, 2032

Shon P. Anderson of Sugarcreek Township brings his financial acumen to Central State University’s Board of Trustees. As the founder and president of Anderson Financial Strategies, Anderson has led his Dayton-based firm in offering tailored financial strategies, helping clients meet their portfolio management and retirement planning needs.  

Anderson began his career in 2003 and graduated from Wright State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in financial services and an MBA with a concentration in finance. His leadership extends beyond his firm, serving on the boards of the Dayton CFA Society and the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation. Recognized by the Dayton Business Journal as a “40 Under 40” honoree, Anderson also gives back to his community as a former adjunct professor at Wright State.  

Student Trustee Asia T. Brown   

Term: Aug. 2, 2024-June 30, 2026

Sophomore Asia T. Brown, a business marketing major from Dayton, is one of the newly appointed student trustees. A first-generation college student, Brown’s leadership roles on campus reflect her commitment to advocacy and service. She serves as a resident advisor, a member of the Student Advisory Council for the College of Business, and a proactive leader in Student Affairs.  

Her academic excellence is evident, as she consistently earns a place on the dean’s list. Brown’s passion for making a difference in her community and dedication to her peers make her a rising leader at Central State and beyond.  

Student Trustee Nicole C. Holt   

Term: Aug. 2, 2024-June 30, 2025  

Nicole C. Holt, a junior majoring in integrated English education hailing from Grove City, joins the Board of Trustees as a student representative with a stellar academic record. Holt has held numerous leadership roles, including president of the Aspiring Educators Chapter and central regional representative for the Ohio Education Association Board of Directors.  

Holt’s contributions to campus life and the community reflect her passion for education and leadership. Her dedication to academic excellence and community service earned her multiple dean’s list honors and positions her for continued success in education.
