As Wednesday's 50th anniversary of the tornado of April 3, 1974, approaches, Central State University is reminded of the spirit of resiliency and perseverance embodied in students, alumni, faculty, and staff. On April 1, WDNT Channel 2 News in Dayton published an article featuring CSU professor Dr. Greta Winbush, '76.

Winbush told WDNT that The Ohio State University offered to take in some students, but she wanted to stay at Ohio's only public Historically Black University.

"I wanted to be here at Central State," she said. "You know, when we say 'For God, For Central, For State,' we don’t realize what we’re saying in that we survived that big tornado.

"And I survived that big tornado."
