Local public transit agency updates Wilberforce route connecting Central State University to Xenia

Commuters traveling to Dayton can depart from Xenia

Greene CATS Public Transit has announced a change in its Red Line Flex Route Wilberforce Loop that services Central State University and neighboring Wilberforce University on weekdays.  

Stops are scheduled at the Norman E. Ward Senior Center on the Central State campus at 7:46 and 9:56 a.m. Monday-Friday on the way to Wilberforce University and Xenia. The bus is scheduled to return to the CSU Ward Center from Xenia at 3:27 and 5:37 p.m. Monday-Friday. 

Commuters can travel from several locations in Xenia, including Greene County Public Health; Kroger Xenia; the REACH Center; the intersection of Colorado and Nebraska drives; and the office of Greene CATS Public Transit. A flex express route connects Xenia to downtown Dayton.

Greene CATS is a county public transit system operated by the Greene County Transit Board, providing safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation in coordination with the county’s social service agencies, businesses, and local decision-makers, according to its website.  

The transit system connects to Montgomery County’s Public Transit System, Greater Dayton RTA.  

Fares for the regular Greene CATS flex routes are $2 per adult each way within Greene County and $4 per adult each way to travel to or from neighboring counties. Older adults and disabled individuals are eligible to apply for the Elderly & Disabled Half Fare Assistance Program at www.greenecountyohio.gov/1848/Fare-Assistance-Programs.  

Funding for Greene CATS Public Transit Services comes from the Federal Transit Administration, the Ohio Department of Transportation, matching grants, passenger fares, and purchase agreements with local agencies.
