Central State University students achieved numerous accomplishments during the fall semester of 2023, thanks to the efforts of the newly formed Marauder Land Media Group (MMG) student organization.

MMG operates under the direction of Central State's TV production studio manager, Stanley B. Jefferson II.

The group hosted a series of speakers, including Central State alumni, as well as TV journalists and managers from Dayton and Cincinnati. These professionals shared their experiences and provided valuable insights into the fast-paced and deadline-driven field of television news, equipping members with the skills and knowledge they need to secure their first jobs.

The Marauder Land Media Group wrote about numerous activities on and off campus during its inaugural semester at Central State University.

In addition to the guest speakers, MMG members ventured off-campus to cover several noteworthy events, such as the ribbon cutting of the Clothes That Work Mobile Unit in Xenia and the 24th annual Ron Cosey Golf Outing in Springfield, which was hosted by the Central State University College of Business

To gain a firsthand understanding of the industry, the group also visited WRCX-TV and WHIO, where members learned about various positions within the field and observed how journalists share news with viewers.

The group's members also conducted interviews with players and coaches while covering various sporting events within Marauder Athletics. Beyond sports, the organization also reported on stories on campus that were important to their fellow Marauders.

MMG received a $1,000 donation from Cricket Wireless for its hard work and dedication to covering stories that will help put Central State on the national map.

"MMG definitely made an impact on Central State University on and off campus in our inaugural school year, covering events that matter to the Marauder community, and we're excited to bring you even more news when we do our student-run newscast next semester," Jefferson said.

"Just remember, we're here for you, CSU!"
