Seed to Bloom Botanical and Community Garden lights up for winter
Winter Illumination at the Central State University Botanical Garden
Central State University's Seed to Bloom Botanical and Community Garden held its annual Winter Illumination ceremony on Nov. 28, the third annual since the Garden opened in 2020.
Interim President Alex Johnson, Ph.D., welcomed attendees, and two members of a student jazz band, Music majors Kamille Austine and Marvin Harshaw, performed, despite the freezing temperatures in late November.
The garden was a byproduct of Central State's designation as an 1890 Land-Grant Institution with a focus on addressing the unique agricultural needs of the communities in which it serves. It is part of the Central State University Agricultural Production Area, providing an inviting space to interact with nature and support students interested in horticultural education.
The CSU Seed to Bloom Botanical and Community Garden is located at the intersection of U.S. 42 E and Wilberforce-Switch Road across from the main campus entrance in Wilberforce, Ohio. It is open from dawn till dusk.
Check out a video from the ceremony featuring the students performing and remarks by Johnson and Morakinyo A.O. Kuti, Ph.D, vice president for Research and Economic Development and Director of the 1890 Land Grant Programs.
