Central State University (CSU) is thrilled to continue its 2024 Convocation Series, a hallmark of intellectual and cultural engagement on campus. This Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11:00 a.m., CSU will welcome Aftab Pureval, the 70th mayor of Cincinnati, as the featured speaker on the topic of developing emotional intelligence. The event will take place in the Paul Robeson Cultural and Performing Arts Center.

Mayor Pureval, the first Asian American to serve as Cincinnati's mayor, has championed equitable economic growth, public safety reform, affordable housing, and environmental action throughout his administration. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to serving all 52 of Cincinnati's neighborhoods, and his progressive policies have earned him national recognition. Prior to serving as mayor, he made waves as Hamilton County Clerk of Courts, bringing historic reforms that saved taxpayers millions and modernized local government operations.

Mayor Pureval's story as the son of first-generation Americans, his leadership experience, and his passion for creating inclusive communities promise to offer powerful insights and inspiration.

The Convocation Series is an important tradition at Central State, particularly for first-year students, for whom attendance is required. However, CSU warmly invites the entire campus community — students, faculty, staff, and the public — to join it for this enlightening event.

Mark your calendars for this compelling session of the Convocation Series, as CSU continues to explore diverse perspectives and ideas that shape the world.
