Central State University Extension and The Ohio Hemp Company to host Industrial Hemp Field Day

Combine on the field, industrial hemp harvesting season using agricultural machinery

Central State University Extension, in collaboration with The Ohio Hemp Company, is pleased to announce the upcoming Industrial Hemp Field Day on Aug. 19. This free event will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m.  at the historic Indian Creek Distillery, 7095 Staley Road, New Carlisle, Ohio.

The event is designed to provide valuable insights into industrial hemp production, featuring a series of educational sessions and field tours. Due to limited space, advance registration is required, and attendance is limited to the first 50 registrants.

Event schedule:

4:30 p.m.: Arrival and registration
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase dinner from on-site food trucks and participate in initial field tours.

5:30 p.m.: Educational session
Presentations will cover key aspects of industrial hemp production, including the following:

  • Ohio Hemp Rules and Regulations 
  • Growing Industrial Hemp by Craig Schluttenhofer, Ph.D., Central State University Hemp Production Researcher
  • Advances in Hemp Genetics by Wendy Mosher, New West Genetics
  • Insights from the Field by Trevor Richardson and Justin Helt, The Ohio Hemp Company

7:15 p.m.: Antique Flax Breaker Demonstration, Field Tour, and Networking
Participants will witness a live demonstration of an antique flax breaker, explore additional field tour areas, and network with fellow attendees.
